(Elwood Rd & Burr Rd) - combined congregational choirs. All are

Gloria Dei Food Pantry Needs YOUR Support
- Your contributions of tuna, jelly, rice and cereal would be most appreciated
(please no giant economy sizes; most of our recipients walk to Gloria
Dei). Each week the Gloria Dei food pantry supplies bags of food to those
in need in our community. Those who receive our gifts are most grateful
for your generosity. (We could also use some paper bags.)

Back!!! Our Youth Pancake Breakfasts are making their return. Join
the fun and enjoy a fabulously famous breakfast on June8th. No sign-up required ... they expect us all to be there!
All funds raised will benefit the youth trip to New Orleans.

Over the
past few months, your Church Council has been holding a series of Congregational
Breakfast meetings. Members of the congregation were invited to come and
voice comments and concerns. In order to facilitate scheduling, please
sign up in the narthex for the next planned meeting: June 14th - 9 AM to 10 AM Olson Hall.
Sunday School Families ... Mark your
calendars now. Next Sunday, May 4th, Sunday School will hold their annual
Sunday School Craft Day & Luncheon - all Sunday School families are
invited.
Sunday School Families, Again ... Take
out your calendars! Please mark June 8th as Parent Sunday. All
parents are invited to join their children in Sunday School on this our
last day for the 2007-8 School Year. You will spend a majority of the time
with your children in their classes, and part of the time in a separate session
designed just for you. Please let your child's teacher know if you will be
participating. There'll also be a Youth Pancake Breakfast that morning ...

... Summer Picnic, June 22nd. The entire congregation is invited to a
picnic following the 10 AM Worship Service. Watch for a sign-up sheet.
Long Island Ducks Game - August 15th,
7:30 PM Citibank Park - It's baseball season again! Join the Gloria Dei team for
an evening at the game. Citibank Park is nearby and easy to get to,
tickets are $10 per seat - payable in advance. Look for the sign-up sheet

Holiday Harvest Fair - October 25,
2008, 10 AM - 3 PM. Joyce Moore has volunteered to lead efforts for this
event, and is seeking support of 20-25 volunteers - all ages. Man a booth, help
in the kitchen, bake, do a craft ... There's a sign-up sheet in the Narthex; for
more information, contact Joyce Moore.
ELCA Youth Gathering - Lutheran youth
will gather around the Word & Sacrament in New Orleans, Louisiana, July 22 -
26, 2009. Confirmands through 18 year olds are invited to participate in
worship, Bible study, service and play; all activities are shaped around the
theme ~JESUS~JUSTICE~JAZZ. If you are interested in going to this youth
gathering, please contact Kristina Brennan ASAP.
There will be pancake breakfasts, car washes, Chinese auctions, dinners, parties
and more to help with the fundraising. The Gloria Dei "Common
Thread" Luther League now has a fund for contributions. If anyone
would like to contribute and help the youth, please submit a check in the
offering basket with "Youth Fund - New Orleans 2009" written in the memo line.

Attention Senior Saints! The
gathering of the Huntington Town Senior Club is held at Gloria Dei on
Wednesdays, 10:30. Come One! Come All! Invite your friends and
neighbors to join us at this wonderful event.
After School Care - Gloria Dei
Nursery-Preschool has started a program for children 2 years old through 2nd
grade. Hours are 2:50 PM to 6:00 PM. For those attending Oakwood
School, school bus transportation to Gloria Dei can be arranged. Call
Gladys Paulsen (421-0026) to enroll or request more information.
New Playground Equipment for Gloria Dei
Nursery-Preschool - our Nursery-Preschool has launched a campaign to fund
the purchase of new playground equipment. Their "Uncle Jerry's"
fundraiser literature and order forms are in the Narthex. There are great
summer-time items for sale, and all profits will go toward the playground
fund. Donations are also appreciated. Please make checks payable to
Gloria Dei Nursery-Preschool. Thank you very much for your support and
encouragement.
Help fight the War Against Hunger!!!
Join us at the Congregational Church in Centerport, 30 Washington Drive, on
Monday evenings, 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, to make peanut butter sandwiches.

cancelled stamps for a project sponsored by Sons of Norway. A basket

Did You Know? When you would like to
place flowers on the Altar, please sign your name and telephone number on
the flower chart in the Narthex. Then, fill out a "Flower Offering"
envelope; make certain you indicate the reason for placing the flowers: In
Honor of an event; In Memory of someone. Please enclose the proper
amount ($20 per bouquet) and place the envelope in the offering plate at least a
week in advance of the Sunday that you wish the flowers placed on the altar.
Epistle deadline is May 18th. Please
leave articles in the "EPISTLE" mailbox.
